With three suet feeders in the yard it is fun to experiment.  Recently, following a suggestion from Scott I placed a Party Mix suet cake in one of the feeders.  It took only one day for the flickers to spot it and the party was on.  The flickers loved the Party Mix suet cake!  And not only flickers, downy and hairy woodpeckers also enjoyed the Party Mix.  Though the other suet cakes continued to be visited by bush tits, black-capped and chestnut-backed chickadees, and red-breasted nuthatches, as soon as the Party Mix was gone, woodpecker visits dropped off dramatically.  This experiment told me that woodpeckers love Party Mix and to keep it in the feeder!
