I think it is safe to say that most of us wish that the Starlings would stay away from our feeders.  They are loud, aggressive and tend to spill a lot of seed.

But, did you know that...
    Starlings were introduced into New York's Central Park around 1890?
   
    there were initially only 60 pairs?

    experts estimate that those original 60 pairs have grown into a flock of over 200 million birds?

    they spread across the country in only 50 years?

    Starlings compete aggressively for nesting cavities to the detriment of other populations such as bluebirds and         woodpeckers.

    they were introduced into Central Park because a man named Eugene Schiefelin thought that the US should         contain any bird that was ever mentioned in a William Shakespeare play?

    Schiefelin also made attempts to introduce skylarks, chaffinches, bullfinches and nightingales.
