Do you have a problem with woodpeckers knocking on your house?  It can sometimes mean that they are drilling holes looking for their next meal.  However, the more likely reason is that it is a male trying to impress a female.  They will often "drum" on gutters, downspouts and trim during their breeding season.  I get a lot of folks coming into the shop asking if there is anything they can do discourage the drumming.  There is a new product called the Birds-Away Attack Spider that may help.  It is a large spider that you hang from your eaves.  The spider is sound activated and drops down on a string and makes noise whenever a woodpecker starts drumming.  The Attack Spider is not too expensive and may be the solution you've been looking for.  Come by the shop if you're interested in giving one a try.
