A New Visitor to Our Feeders

As you may imagine, we have quite a few bird feeders around our house.  We have a fairly large population of birds who regularly dine with us.  Right now there are dozens of Pine Siskins and Juncos along with Varied Thrush, Spotted Towhee, Song Sparrows, Flickers and Downy Woodpeckers.  Just recently the Pileated Woodpeckers and California Quail have also reappeared after disappearing for a month or two.  Even with all the activity; there hasn't been any "new" sightings this spring.  We haven't even seen any Goldfinches this year.

So, I was pleasantly surprised when I passed a window this morning and caught a glimpse of a bird that looked a little different.  I quickly grabbed the binoculars and went back for a better look.  Sure enough, we had a White-crowned Sparrow picking through the mulch below a tube feeder.  Obviously not an unusual or rare bird but it was still great to see someone new come into the yard.
