I was outside the shop just moments ago taking care of some of my display items.  The wind has been blowing a lot lately and stuff gets knocked around a bit.  I heard a pink-pink-pink as I started back to the door.  I paused for a moment to look around hoping to spot the bird making the call.  I checked the bushes, roof line and even the top of a nearby street sign.  I couldn't see a bird anywhere.  I stepped inside the door and was gazing out when some movement caught my eye.  Out from under the shrubbery stepped a White-crowned Sparrow (WCSP).  As I've mentioned before, I usually only see House Sparrows outside the shop's door.  It was very cool to see a new species in my little corner of Poulsbo.  I quickly grabbed a handful of black oil sunflower seeds to toss out in the hopes of enticing the WCSP to stick around for awhile.  Unfortunately, my re-opening the door scared him off.  I'll keep an eye out for him and hope he comes back soon.
