I have received the first of the new products I ordered at
BirdWatch America.
It is the Nite Guard Solar-Powered, Nocturnal Predator Control Light. I
haven't sold one yet so I don't have any first-hand feedback. Still, you
might want to give it a try if you are tired of raccoons and bears eating all
your seed and breaking your expensive feeders.
Here is some info from the Nite Guard brochure...
Based on scientific research, the
concept is simple and effective. Predators react to the red flash of Nite
Guard as they would to the eye of a harmful animal. Sensing it is being
watched, the predator feels threatened and leaves the area.
Use the Nite Guard to protect:
Livestock against coyote, fox, bear, mountain lion, wolf and
bobcat.
Poultry against owls, hawks, raccoon, mink, weasel, fox, coyote
and skunk.
Gardens against deer and raccoon.
Campsites against bear, raccoon and mountain lion.
Bird feeders against raccoon and bear.
Purple Martin houses against hawks and owls.
Fish ponds against blue heron and raccoon.
The Nite Guard is solar powered and needs only 4 hours of sunlight each day to
maintain its charge. The red flashing LED light turns on automatically at
dusk and off at full daylight. The unit should last 2-3 years but you can
extend that by bringing it inside during the "off season".
