Yesterday morning about 1000 I saw a Arctic Loon west of Point No Point, Kitsap County. It was seen west of the old dock nearest the point and moved west toward the new county park by the Hansville store. It had the white flank patch flaring upwards toward the rear, blockier head, more white on the cheek and larger beak than nearby Pacific Loons. At a distance the shape appeared almost Common Loon like. The bird was alone. The Pacific Loons in the area are usually in groups of 3 to 8 birds.
The bird was not seen later in the day or so far this morning.
