We have two great local events coming up over the next couple weeks. Both will be entertaining as well as educational.
The first is Islandwood's Backyard Habitat Family Fair on June 29th (12pm-4pm). Islandwood is on Bainbridge Island and you can find more info, as well as driving directions, on their website.
This free event is
family-friendly. Come see a demonstration bee hive, hear a presentation
by the Bat Man, build a bird nest box, visit Sammy Snag, write wildlife
poetry, plant a sunflower seed to take home, enjoy story hour, do
origami and crafts.
The second event is a Low-Tide Beach Walk hosted by Stillwaters Environmental Center in Kingston. The walk is on July 5th from 12:30p until 1:30pm. Participants will meet at the Kingston Farmer's Market near the marina.
Join
a marine ecologist from Stillwaters to discover the rich nearshore environment
that is as diverse and bountiful as a tropical rain forest. Countless species
depend upon this fragile ecosystem which is in constant ebb and flow with the
tides.Fun for all ages; children must
be accompanied by an adult. Wear shoes or boots to get muddy and walk on rocks.
Pre-register at 360-297-2876.
Both events are family friendly so grab your kids and head out for a little exploration and adventure.
