A Return to Fish Park

I haven't been to the park much this summer.  Family stuff and work here at the shop have occupied much of my time.  However the seasons are changing and it looks like I may be back to my old schedule soon.  I have managed a few trips to Fish Park this week and even though the birds are a little slim this time of year there was still a few things to see.  At the top of the list is the continued work on the boardwalk.  The Lions Club is still working on the boardwalk and it is really starting to look great.  It seems to be about twice as long as it was at the start of the summer.

I did spot a few interesting birds this week.  None are all that unusual for the area but are still good sightings for the park.  I saw a couple Common Yellowthroat on Saturday and a Bewick's Wren on Monday.  This morning I didn't even have the truck parked yet when I spotted a Cooper's Hawk perched on a stump near the entrance to the boardwalk.  It stuck around long enough that I was able to get the truck stopped and my binos out.  Unfortunately it flew off as soon as I let our corgi out to start our walk.
